Wake Forest alum Arnoux set to leave Everton

AMSTERDAM — Everton reserve striker Cody Arnoux looks set to move on in July and is leaning toward a stay in Europe, MLSsoccer.com has learned.

The 22-year old New York native had an enjoyable stint with the Toffees second team, scoring twice in seven appearances this season, but he will probably be looking for a new club when his deal expires on June 30.

"They haven't [offered an extension] yet," Graham Smith, president of Arnoux's agency First Wave Sports, told MLSsoccer.com. "I still need to talk to David Moyes, but chances are he will move on."

"As of yet, nothing has been decided. He has interest in the UK and here in America. Teams had been showing interest in Cody during the season, in fact."

While his MLS suitors remain a mystery, Smith did divulge that Scottish top flight side Motherwell are still very interested in Arnoux, who impressed in a spring audition for the Steelmen.

"Their manager Craig Brown, who's a former Scotland international, had a lot of nice things to say," he reported. "I'd think Motherwell will be one of the teams [weighing an offer]."

While stateside fans may hope to see the former Wake Forest ace in MLS, Smith believes his client will continue to test the waters abroad.

"I think the experience he's had and the money are extremely positive signs," he stated. "I think his future lies in Europe."
